How To Make A Cozy Bed

Posted by Sarah Wilson on

We all aim to create a comfortable home, one that relaxes, inspires, invigorates and just makes life better. At Gray Heron, we can’t think of a more important room than your bedroom. We spend 1/3 of our lives sleeping or trying to fall asleep (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/21056174/) and research has shown that people who get a good night’s sleep are happier (https://www.livescience.com/50005-happiness-well-being-poll.html).

We take outfitting your bed very seriously. Feeling warm, comfortable and safe, i.e., cozy, is the ultimate goal. We recommend focusing on creating a bed that is inviting, comfortable, versatile and healthy. Here’s how:

Whether it’s color coordinated, beautifully textured, and/or layered with pillows, everyone should have a bed that beckons you to rest. Creating an inviting, but not high maintenance, bed is key. We all need our sleep but don’t want to spend too much time making our beds in the morning!

Comfort is arguably the most important component. Take the time to test mattresses and find the right pillows for you and your family. What type of sheets and blankets do you prefer? Invest in comfy pjs. When the cost of creating a comfortable bed seems daunting, remember that you spend 1/3 of your life sleeping or trying to fall asleep; it’s worth the splurge for your happiness! Always keep a glass of water on your bedside table.

Some nights you may be hot, others cold. Having a versatile, layered bed is also important. A breathable, soft, Gray Heron blanket adds an element of flexibility. A down comforter with duvet folded at the end of a bed is always a good idea.

Lastly, we should all have a healthy, organic, non-toxic place to sleep. For more information about why this is important, see our blog post - Why Organic Cotton Is the Better Choice for Bedding:  https://grayheron.com/blogs/news/why-organic-cotton-is-the-better-choice-for-bedding.
